History

Founded in 2008, Sanford Inspire began with a commitment between T. Denny Sanford and educators at the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University (ASU). Their objective was to create new tools for recruiting and preparing teacher candidates to become inspiring classroom teachers.

The work completed at ASU by Sanford Inspire leadership resulted in professional development resources for PK-12 and pre-service teachers. Materials are designed to attract, develop, and support inspirational teachers through systematic approaches devoted to the foundational skills needed to maximize student potential.

Based on the belief and desire to bring meaningful change to local and global communities, T. Denny Sanford expanded his efforts into three initiatives housed at the Sanford Education Center at National University, one of which is Sanford Inspire. The others include: Sanford Harmony and Sanford Institute of Philanthropy.

National University grants the most teaching degrees and credentials in California, and has successfully integrated Sanford Inspire into teacher prep courses–equipping future educators with the knowledge and skills needed to enhance the learning experience for young students. The University’s role is to help disseminate Sanford Inspire to future teachers and develop more resources to support in-service teachers.
